Does anyone know of a non-profit melanoma group within an hour of Washington, DC that is actively seeking donations? I have the name of a northern VA corporation that is looking for a group for their annual donation to a non-profit healthcare related foundation. They personally persent the donation to the organization so it must be located within an hours drive from Washington, DC. Any help would be appreciated as I live in Richmond, VA and am too far away to suggest the foundation of my choice.
Thanks!

ugh…I feel like such an idiot…they are right in my backyard…will check out the 501c3 status and send everything to the corporation…thanks for the smack in the head I so badly needed…I am a huge fan of the MRF!!!!! They honored my NYU oncologist, Dr Anna Pavlick, a few years back with their annual Wings of Hope Humanitarian Award…thanks so much!

Libby:
Thank you so much for thinking of us, and for contacting the company. Please let me know if I can be of any help with this. If the company is more interested in a local group (vs. national) I will be happy to try to help you find someone.

Melanoma International Foundation is a fraction of the size of MRF. It's based 120 miles from DC near Philadelphia, so it almost meets your 100 mile limit… Has excellent educational webinars on new treatments, is a moderated forum with top-knotch oncologists as consultants, and also has a new but small "innovative grants" program in melanoma, with no overhead charges allowed, which means the money goes much further, since most grants have a huge chunk raked off by the university centers involved. Check out their website, and if you're interested, contact Catherine Poole, their president.
