New mets in my lungs

I was diagnosed stage 3 melanoma on my back with mets to some lymph nodes. I did 1 year interferon and was clear since 2009. Four months ago I had a ct scan that showed 2 small nodules on my left lung, and the dr decided to do wait and do another ct in November. This ct shows the original nodules have increased in size and several new nodules in both lungs. I see the dr in 2 days and I would like to know what to expect and what questions to ask him. What are my chances that I can beat this?

Sorry you are dealing with this, Tina.  Here is a primer of basic current melanoma treatment options that I put together recently:  http://chaoticallypreciselifeloveandmelanoma.blogspot.com/2017/08/melanoma-intel-primer-for-current.html

Reviewing this will give you a good idea of treatment options and questions to ask.  In my experience, you need to make certain you are seeing a melanoma specialist.  You probably need to find out if there is a plan/option to biopsy at least one of the lesions to make sure what you are dealing with.  And…when they do that, you need to make sure they do testing on the lesion…specifically to ascertain your BRAF status if the lesions are indeed melanoma.

Hang in there and ask questions as you need.  Yours, celeste

Thank you for your reply , I have heard of BRAF but I’m not sure what that is. I will also check out your link.

Went to the dr today, I will have a needle biopsy next week and then another pet scan after that to see if there are any more mets anywhere else, then a treatment plan.
