      Hi,

I am moving to the San Francisco area. I am stage 4 and need the best ONC I can find.

Sincerely would appreciate any recommendation for Melanoma Specialist ONC at UCSF Cancer Center or any prominent Melanoma Specialist close to Bay area.

I am hoping to find an ONC & Medical Center that is conducting melanoma clinical trials.

Thank you so much for your help.

          Hi Barb,

The melanoma oncologist at UCSF is Dr. Adil Daud and he is conducting some clinical trials there.   The number for appointments is:  415-353-9900.   He is not my Dr. but I have met him several times at melanoma funcitons. and know patients who have been very happy with him.

Dr. David Minor is a melanoma onocologist at California Pacific Medical Center and I am currently a patient of his following a treatment I did there two years ago.   He also has some clinical trials underway and the number there is:  413-885-8600.

There are others on this board who can probably give you some feedback as well on these two physicians.

          Good luck,

          Mary

              Thanks Mary,

I would very much like to Get a Dr. melanoma specialist who is doing a trial that I want to get into & that I qualify for.

I do not want to pick a dr & then have to go to a difference medical center for a clinical trial.

My luck I would pick Dr. Minor then see a trial at UCSF that I want to get into.

I have heard of Dr. Minor at California Pacific Medical Center .Do you know where California Pacific Medical Center post their clinical trials???

                Hi Barb,

Here is a link to the melanoma clinical trials posted on CPMC web site (Calif. Pacific Med Ctr):

                http://www.cpmc.org/professionals/research/trials/oncologymelanoma.html

And here is the link to UCSF:

                http://cancer.ucsf.edu/clinical-trials/melanoma

However, sometimes not all trials are posted or there are upcoming trials that are not posted as well so it's wise to call or have consultations at a facility to get a thorough overivew of what is or will be available.

I'm currently NED and a Bay Area resident but have been doing treatments on and off for over 10 years.   The clincial trials I participated in were first in Los Angeles at USC and then I followed that Dr. to Tampa for an Ipi trial for resected melanoma.  Of course it's more ideal to find one close to home!

                Take care,

                Mary

Hi Barb – Correction to Dr. Minor's number  – it is:  415-885-8600   – I made an error on the area code 🙂

Two thumbs up for Dr. Minor.  I have been a stage IV patient with him for nearly 9 years and he has been a great doctor and a wonderful supporter.  He does run some trials, has an amazing support team and has continued to be may main physician even when I have been on trial elsewhere.  Welcome to Nor Cal!

You will be in good hands with dr minor…Whose specialty is biochemo and he has many stage 4 survivors. See this blog (my husband is the stage 3 survivor mentioned and pictured … and we are friends with some of minors patients.

Dr daud at UCSF is doing an interesting trial involving electroimmunotherapy that seems to have good results (Daud is one of my husbands docs.. but he isn’t doing any treatment).

Our family member works at Stanford (in melanoma) and they are ramping up their clinical trials..you should also go to the Northern California Melanoma Centers web site to see what dr Spitler has in terms of trials.

I googled and could not find the electroimmunotherapy trial at UCSF.

I sincerely would appreciate any link/or NCT number, or anything to get more info for  the UCSF electroimmunotherapytrial.

                                  Thanks,
