      Hello,

      sorry to be a bother, may be a case of google has freaked me out. I have a mole on my chest, I’m a 27 year old female.  I’ve had it for as long as I can remember, in the past 2 years it’s started to develop black spots. I went to my doctor who looked at it and said the black spots were due to fake tan.

      However, I hardly put it on and it scrubs off… recently more black spots have appeared, it’s raised and not symmetrical, although it wans’t Symetrical 2 years ago and was only slightly raised.

      is this something anyone has heard about before, I’m worried I go back and seem as though I’m panicking… sorry for the trouble.

          Hi there…  it may be nothing but my advice is to have it checked out by a dermatologist who deals with skin cancers…  just to be safe,

            Hi Bekah, my name is Mike {nice to meet you! well, first off GO AND GET IT LOOKED AT! if you have had it for awhile now, and its "recently" that it has turned a darker color {whether dark brown or black} and its shape is all over the place {not an equal shape on its edges} it very well could be a type of skin cancer. Short story, because i was not very aware about Melanoma & what to do, my original Melanoma site on my upper left knee, a light brown mole { year of 2000}, turned black by 2001  i did a tattoo around it so if it grew "into" the tattoo, i knew i wasnt trippin' that it was gettin wider, not raised at this point, just wider. Ok, 2005 i meet my soon to be Wife Hillary & the mole starts to rise a bit, like a wart, then it gets bigger, crusty, flakey, it bleeds cuz its dry & it begans to become a pain indah butt when i sit with my elbow riding right where it was. My wife gets me in gear & calls in an appt. to Kaiser for Derm & its now 2008 at this point that  i finally get it biopsied &  to then get an urgent call that it "is"  Melanoma & its stage 3b..ive had nothing but grief since so, GO GET IT CHECKED OUT SISTER {and yes im yelling at you with love!}….Mike {Melanoma Mike}

                Lucky for me my doctors have same day appointments.  I went, he reassured me it’s nothing to worry about and just pigment… no further referral, so just got to leave as is, might take a picture though for reference and keep an eye on future… it’s always just worrying me being there

                  In order to be reassured, you should be checked by a dermatologist and not by a PCP. Many PCPs are not qualified to judge pigmented lesions. Just my 2 cents.
