Are all posts going to be moderated from now on?  I realize that is a way to keep out spam, but it is also slowing down comment times.  Nothing new on the board for 24 hours?  Also, I made a post but it never made it to the board.

      I replied @ 9:40pm PST on 10/16/2015.

I've made a lot of other comments this week and they haven't shown up either. So, I share your and other pain in this. The "new filter" is supposedly blocking new spam. However, this system is behaving as if someone is receiving the new threads and comments and only approving them once or twice a day. So, the "spam filter' is blocking us and the spam.  – I'd take spam over the blocking…

Also many comments are being completely blocked. – I've had a few comments never been approved and it has been days since I replied. — One to someone asking about brain mets and another to someone I really wish would take everyone's advice and get her husband to a competent melanoma specialist. and be her husbands advocate. (That's another story. And maybe my post was to harsh.  Who knows?)

Anyway, I replied to Adam's update on the spam issue.  Here is what I wrote:

Let me preface this by saying that everyone appreciates that you are trying to ensure that the site does not have spam and that the Message Board is something we all value.

I will also try sending you a copy of this via the email function associated with your user profile. That might be a way to get around getting information to registered users faster.

Here is some honest feedback posted CA time 9:20pm 10/16/2015:

Adding a new CAPTCHA was a good start but it would have been easier if you had made some of the "older" trusted users Moderators and allowed us to manage spam and fake users  or just made new users comments and threads moderated for a short period of time rather than make the other changes that affect everyone.

The changes made in adding moderation with the new "very powerful spam filter" (which I have significant doubts about and I know about this stuff) has only delayed getting information to people 24 hours + if ever, caused people to think their posts were "lost" and likely given new users the idea that no one really responds.

From a users prospective this is a massive fail for something that should have been a easy fix for a message board that many people rely on for information support

Please reconsider the changes that you have made and those that I've proposed.

      Thanks!

      PS

Try using a Honeypot to block spam and changing this CAPTCHA program. The photos I had to use to get a previous message "approved" asked me to ID photos of ice cream.  I had to choose cupcakes (very clearly cupcakes) and ice cream to verify my message. Kinda defeats the purpose if the CAPTCHA program is buggy.

Susan, I did too.  I wrote to RawlinsMom and it never made it to her thread.  I worry she will think no one has written deliberately.  I wonder if something is wrong with the whole system right now.  Not sure this will post.  I know there was a big problem with spam a few days ago.  Hope it gets corrected soon.
