I posted the other day about my father. He was first diagnosed w Anorectal has now returned on his chest wall. Can anyone recommend a melamoma specialist in nj. He refuses to go to ny as much as I'm trying to convince him to go to Sloan but it's unlikely
thank you.

Thank you for this. I am shocked that the oncologist currently treating my father (poorly) is on here. I am thinking that he treats cutaneous melanoma where my father's started as Ano-rectal which seems like a different animal.
I think our only hope of finding someone well practiced is by going to one of the larger institutions.

hi…..
I too live in NJ, and have been seeing many melanoma expert oncologists lately. I have seen SLoan, NYU and Mt. Sinai, all in NYC, UPENN, and also Rutgers.
FYI- Rutgers is NJ's only National Comprehensive Cancer center…..
Though I will most likley have my further treatment at NYU, I suggest if your DAD really wont go to NY that he see Janice Mehnert at Rutgers…the phone number for new patient scheudling is 732 235 8515.
We got her name from the oncologist at sloan…..she is a true melanoma exppert and may be a good option for you.
Also, just as an aside, though i think very highly of SLoan NJ, (From past experience) keep in mind that SLoans Melanoma experts are all in NY.
A melanoma expert , rather than a general oncologist is a MUST.
Wishing you all the best,
j.

You can also take him to Abramson Cancer Center in Phillie. They are on par with places like Sloan and Johns Hopkins and should know how to handle his unique situation.
