Hi, the hits just keep coming. Had 2 recent biopsies. One was just fibrosis. The second was melanoma in situ. Waiting for a wider excision. My sister called yesterday to say her breast bx was positive for cancer. Praying it’s early, but already not thrilled w what she read me from path report. Now today found lump at bottom of LND scar. This seems near to area where PET scan had concerns, but was only 3 weeks post op (now 3 months out). Have to wait until next tues to see oncological surgeon. Phoned oncologist they are moving up my pet scan. Hoping it’s not mel again so soon.

Sorry to hear about the worrying news that you and your sister have had lately. As you
have said melanoma in situ is a concern, and so is the lump at the bottom of the LND scar.
However, the lump might be benign scar tissue so please try to remain positive.

Thanks for completing your profile. It is detailed and very helpful to us, as we can
easily see how you are going in your battle with melanoma. Perhaps you would like to tell
us more about the interferon treatment that you have had.

      Best wishes

        Hi Frank,

Thanks for your comments. I am already forgetting the interferon. I think my nurse had built things up, to where I expected to feel like I had severe flu and fatigue 24/7. I did have fever and chills, but not always. I was instructed to premedicate with 2 Ibuprofen and 2 Tylenol before treatment. I think that helped. Then I would alternate Tylenol and Ibuprofen every 4-6 hrs. During the day I felt pretty much fine.I only had one really bad night where fever started right away, had vomiting and diarrhea as well as a headache. That was right before I reached my max dose and was worried it would be like that from then on. Next night I felt fine!. Last 2 weeks was pretty fatigued by weekend, All in all to me it wasn't that bad. Very dry mouth-drank lots of fluids, but still dry. I think cutting back at work really helped me also. Probably a mental thing. I was only going in for 4 hrs in the morning. Knowing I only had to make it thru 4 hrs no matter how I felt  took a lot of pressure off. First self injection was awful-felt bad for 24 hours after taking. Way worse than anything I had from high dose. Dr. and I decided prob not worth it. Looks like I may have had to stop anyway now that I found a lump. I'm hoping surgeon will just stick a needle in it and find it's ok (I can hope right?)

        Thanks for your posts 🙂

      Julie,

I'm sorry about the one-two punch you, your sister, and your families are experiencing. Prayers for you and your sister!

Oh Lord, in Your mercy, look at Your daughters and take control of their cancers. We pray for the best outcomes possible for each and that Julie's melanoma is not back. Lord, they can use miracles, not just in treating cancers, but in dealing with the anxieties and everything that goes with this. Let them each feel Your presence, bring Your peace, and may Your love and care envelope them. Wisdom for each woman's doctors. Thank you. Amen. and Amen!

Grace and much peace at this time Friend,

      Carol

        Thank  you Carol!

Your prayer brought tears to my eyes (happy ones of course)!

Hoping we will both be ok. My surgeon is out of town so can't see him until next tuesday.

        You are a real blessing.

Thank you Lord for Carol and her kind words and prayers.
