      Hi,

I've seen many posts on LDH, and know its not considered a  reliable "marker", and can fluctuate for many reasons other than  diesase progression….

I had lab tests done last Tuesday, normal, just routine, while at NYU….they are then sent to me via their patient portal….this morning when I recived them I was shocked to see my LDH jumped amost 240 pts …..

One thing to note, is that the NYUs lab range  for normal is 313-618….mine has stayed anywhere from 429-472 over the last year and a half….Febraury 16 th, the last one was 459…..and apparently it is now 695…… almost 240 pts higher than last month or EVER !!!!!

I know Dr. Pavlick is not going to be too concerned as she doesn't think its a necesssary test in the absence of metatstatic disease….BUT I must say, It certainly scared me this morning.

Just curious of others thoughts or experience on this.

      TKS,

      jenny

              Thanks Ed and Mat-

I did so some searching…lots here for sure….

I wondered if post radiation changes could be "the culprit" to cause elevated LDH…i am having some delayed side effects now, though it ended Jan 12th. so hoping that may be the cause.

I am sure it will lbe repeated next month and hopefully will go down again…and will be no further cause for concern.

Thank you both for your responses,

              best,

              jenny

LDH can be a marker for progression in untreated patients.  It is a less reliable marker for folks on treatment.  LDH can rise due to inflammation, which is a common side effect of the checkpoint inhibitors, eg, all of the disorders ending in "is" like colitis.  Agree with Ed–many prior posts on this.
