https://www.cancernetwork.com/melanoma/inflammatory-marker-linked-poor-prognosis-melanomaA new study indicated that the measurement of levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) in the blood has been found to be an independent prognostic marker for survival in patients with melanoma. Patients with the most markedly increased levels of CRP were found to be at high risk for melanoma recurrence and death.

Hi Gene, what a happy up lifting article from 2015 research at MD Anderson, kind of makes one want to run out and get there C-reactive protein levels checked!!! Nice to see you reading articles from real science research for a change!!! Interesting fact, when you dig a little deeper into the topic of C-reactive protein levels you might actual find a happy story, one of hope and research. If you are interested Gene go to the following link that features Dr. Weber talking about a new trial he is running at NY langone (see following link). Happy Saturday!!!Ed https://www.cancertherapyadvisor.com/home/news/conference-coverage/american-society-of-clinical-oncology-asco/asco-2019/melanoma-inhibitors-elevated-levels-of-serum-crp-il6-biomarkers-poor-prognosis/-

Ed, seems funny to me that you never posted this information about this test before!
In doing a search on this subject there is no mention of your name ;-(

Hi Gene, for your general knowledge please read the following link from SITC on their concsencus statement on tumor immunotherapy for the treatment of cutaneous melanoma, which was last updated in 2018. Now, if you take some time and go over the agreed upon opinion of the leading experts in melanoma you might find that there is no mention of using ” C-reactive protein” levels. https://jitc.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40425-018-0362-6-

Now Gene, I am sorry that I did not keep you up to date on C-reactive protein research when I put out some ASCO stuff this year. I usually try to follow what Celeste does since she is so good at finding the gold in all the ASCO published material. I did put out a couple of reminders “see link following” to the Onclive ASCO peer panel stuff and in there you would have found the panel talking about biomarkers and what they are using in their practices and there was no mention of your article topic. This new topic of ‘ C-reactive protein” and IL-6 research is just in the early days of being looked into, to see if there is any benefit. Dr. Weber just reported this information in June as to his findings and the start of his trial of looking at Ipi+Nivo + Tocilizumab but since you feel I have let you down and as my number one fan, you have my sincere apology for not keeping you up to date!!! In the coming days I will try my hardest to win back your respect as it means so much to me!!! Here is the link I put up a few months ago to the ASCO Onclive stuff and another link to Dr. Weber at ASCO this year. https://melanoma.org/legacy/find-support/patient-community/mpip-melanoma-patients-information-page/onclive-series-2019-asco https://www.cancerresearch.org/blog/june-2019/asco19-day-2-biomarkers-macrophages-cell-therapy
