Hello – I'm wondering how quickly the results are available from a sentinal lymph node biopsy. My dermatologist said they have results right away, but onco surgeon said it would take 1.5 weeks.  Others experiences?

          Hi,

I didn't receive my results from the sentinal node biopsy for two weeks at my post op appointment. I do believe that they have the results back a little sooner than that but they won't schedule any additional surgeries until you have recovered from the first one. My second surgery was one week after my first post op appointment. This is my experience so it may vary… I hope this helps.

What was your second surgery for, an entire nodal biopsy?

The second surgery was the removal of my axillary lymph nodes on my left side since the first SN was positive for cancer cells.

A WLE is the surgery where that take additional skin where the original melanoma was to make sure that the margins are clear of cancer.
