Hello fellow warriors- I was diagnosed with stage 2a melanoma in July 2015. No issues since. Have been diagnosed with gallstones after a couple of acute attacks. Question is should I be concerned about this gallbladder removal surgery lowering my immune system? Should I let my oncologist know?

      Thanks and keep fighting!

Hello Mary. I definitely think it's worth letting your onc know what's going on.

          Good luck,

          Ann

I am scheduled for a gallbladder surgery March 3, and after everything I've been through in the last few weeks, I think I'm going to cancel.  IIn my mind, it's not an emergency.  I don't have a lot of pain or other side effects at this point.  I feel that I've been managing it with my diet.  Like you, I am worried about my immune system too.  I will check with my oncologist about it today when I see him, and let you know.

Yes, let me how things go for you. My oncologist said I should go ahead with surgery so I'm going in on Monday. Fingers crossed.

Good luck with your surgery!  I'm putting my surgery on hold for now, since it's not really an emergency in my case.  Take care.
