One of the interesting findings:
Curcumin Acts Synergistically With Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy:Increases tumor cell sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiation therapy
Protects normal tissues (liver, kidney, mucous membranes, heart, etc.) from radiation and chemotherapy injury
One recent study demonstrated a significant reduction in radiation dermatitis (skin inflammation) in patients who received curcumin during their radiation therapy for breast cancer. Patients received either oral curcumin (2 gram tablets, taken 3 times per day) or a placebo. The authors reported that the patients taking the curcumin had dermatitis reactions that were on average 31% less than those taking placebo. One of the most impressive findings in this study was that the women taking curcumin had a marked reduction in their risk of developing severe skin reactions (called “moist desquamation”) compared with those taking the placebo; 28.6% (curcumin) versus 87.5% (placebo).– See more at: http://www.integrativeoncology-essentials.com/2013/03/is-there-any-other-anti-cancer-botanical-compound-as-exciting-as-curcumin/#sthash.Ab5ttvQf.dpuf

Hi Kim. I order from natures sunshine. I consult with a traditional naturopath and she has never mentioned that it should be taken with any other specific supplements

Kim,
I take Doctor's Best brand curcumin and I think Jerry does also. I was told by a nurse once that Doctor's Best products have a third party quality assurance verification on all their products. I've never checked that for myself but it was a nurse I had a lot of faith in. When purchasing your product you may also want to look for one that has a certification from USP. They are an organization that does quality assurance checks on supplements. You can read about them at this link. http://www.naturemade.com/usp
It is tough trying to make sure you are actually getting a good quality product.

I usually take 500 mg once a day, sometimes two a day spread apart. Since March 2009. The biggest thing I're read about is to take the ones with Peperine combinedd or to takke extra pepper in ones food when taking it to increase absorption. Have heard of people taking up to 3000 mg a day without bad side effects.
When buying Turmeric, be aware that there is a big difference in the Turmeric products on the market. For example, a product containing 400mg of Turmeric herb powder that is not standardized for the active ingredient in Turmeric (Curcumin) is an inferior product when compared to a product containing 300 mg of Turmeric Extract standardized for 95% Curcumin. If you just look at milligrams and compare prices, the one with the most milligrams and the lower price, at first glance may appear to be the best buy, when it is in fact inferior to the 300 mg product that is standardized for 95% Curcumin at a little higher price. When looking for Turmeric, you want the one with the highest content of the important active ingredient Curcumin. The bottom line is the antioxidant properties and protective powers of Turmeric depend on the amount of active ingredient, Curcumin, it contains.
ONE IMPORTANT ITEM. STOP TAKING TWO WEEKS BEFORE SURGERY!
Seems more work has been done overseas on curcumin than in the USA. (do we work on things that don't make Pharmacia money?)

More sites sto check out. I have not investigated these , but they appear to be of interest.
