Clean quarterly scans; no BRAF mutation

I was blessed to have received word yesterday that my scans for this quarter were again clean.   While I am certainly happy about that, my joy was truly shadowed by sadness having learned yesterday morning that two other melanoma warriors had lost their battle, each leaving behind grieving spouses, children, family and friends.  My condolences to all those close to them.

On another note, a couple of months ago I had asked my Onc to have my tumor tested for BRAF just in case my NED status were to change in the future.  Received the results yesterday that I do not have the BRAF mutation.

      Congrats on the scans Rocco!

I agree though, sometimes good news can be overshadowed by another's passing.  We just learned that a fellow warrior who did IL-2 with my husband passed as well.  His spread to the brain very quickly.  It was such a shock, and he was such a nice guy.  His wife Linda is just a sweetheart.

Hopefully, you will have no need for another treatment, and you can continue the fight – always remembering those who have lost.

great news Rocco, have a look at P-REX1 a post on the previous page. It works downline from BRAF and may help those without BRAF Mutation. Hopefully they can develop a drug that can block its pathway.

      best wishes

        Hi Rocco,

So happy to hear this GREAT news! I also do not have the BRAF mutation. This is good information for you to have I was supposed to have a previous melanoma tumor analysed for the HLAA but no-one seems to be able to find those results. Guess I will ask again. Its good to have plan B, C, etc for down the road.

        Hugs,

This is great news Rocco. Plan B's and C's will change as the new immunotherapy trials continue..B-raf is just one and in itself isn't the answer for most folks.
