I found this thread that mentions brain mets and ipi (Yervoy):
http://www.melanoma.org/community/mpip-melanoma-patients-information-page/rollcall-have-you-taken-yervoyipi-your-resultsNot sure about TIL and brain mets, although I have read that some trials exclude people
with them. I hope that someone will have more info on this.Take care

IPI does have success on brain mets. Not sure about TIL. My initial scans showed 6 measurable mets in my brain and literally dozens (if not hundreds) of "floating" cells in my cerebral fluid. I am participating in the IPI brain trial.
IPI (Yervoy) is now an approved drug you do not need a trial to participate so there are no exclusions. It's my undersanding that Bristol Myers Squibb is still restricting the drug to centers that participated in the earlier trials.
Call any one of the centers listed on the NIH site http://www.cancer.gov or BMS directly from the info on their web site.

Hi Terra,
As Jerry said, ipi does have some success on brain mets. Are you asking because your husband has brain mets?? Will he be having gamma knife?
I do not regret taking compassionate ipi trial, the first round of 4 treatments, cleared my cutaneous melanoma (and who knows may have stopped any brain mets)..I'm stil clear in brain/breast/colon (scans done last week while in hospital so now I will do war with the sub-qs and lymph node problem with another treatment, maybe TIL. I am fully aware that TIL is an extremely harsh treatment …I never regretted taking ipi/yervoy. Living in Canada, it would be much easier for you to try the compassionate ipi trial first and I would try it while it is still available in Canada…who knows when they will stop those trials up there..and who knows which provinces will cover the cost of this treatment (that's something to seriously consider too)…most 'not all' find the ipi not too difficult…I know I didn't.
