I’m sitting here waiting to go in for gamma knife. The dr was here and suggested I not drive and have 10 percent chance of getting a seizure. I literally feel like crap now and hoping both of these things just aren’t true. He did say the 2 brain mets I have are in very safe areas.

I know jag used to have seizures and could’t drive for a bit, but is anyone else in the same boat? The possibility of not driving is to last 6 months.

Oh, shoot, Lisa, I am in sort of the same boat. I don't have a care giver and it would be VERY difficult if I could not drive. My oldest sister has had several gamma knife procedures and she basically has gone at lunch and driven out of the hospital a couple of hours later. I have never had gamma knife, but am quite sure I will in the future. I am curious as to whether it has to do with th location of the tumor. 10% percent seizure rate seems pretty low, but it would not be good to be be in that 10% while behind the wheel. Hopefully others can add some real wisdom!

                Lisa,

I want to wish you best of luck with your treatment. I know how unsettling it is to deal with brain mets. I had two small mets in 2003-04 which were treated with srs (similar to GK). The radiation onco also mentioned WBR but I turned it down.

I am still here doing great, more than 5 years NED. See my other post under brain mets roll call.

                Best wishes,

                Alicia

                    Alicia!

Thank you so much for posting on this site and the other one.  You give me so much hope and I know it's possible for people to not grow back any mets for a long time. I was a great responder to ipi, so I'm hoping it's going to help me like the GM-CSF helped you.  I honestly may even see if I can get into some clinical trial with Leukine since I've heard good things about it.

At the time you got your brain mets, and other mets, you must have been scared that others would grow back (microscopic ones). However, you were so lucky and blessed to get a great outcome.

                    I wish continued best wishes!

Hope all went well.  After having Brain surgery, I've pretty much put the thoughts of anything else bad happening out of my mind, I survived that (and never even thought otherwise beforehand as I was so shocked at them finding tumors in my brain the previous day!  If I had a few more days to think I would have scared myself shitless!)
