      Hi Everyone,

      Hi Everyone,

I've been on the Taflinar-Mekinist combo for about a month now and have had outstanding results.  One nuisance (minor in the scheme of things)–before I started on the combo, I developed a numbness in part of my lower right jaw and chin.  The sensation is similar to the effect of a shot of novacane at a dentist's office (albeit one that never goes away).  An MRI revealed a lesion in my jaw–likely bumping-up against a nerve.  The combo has not resolved the issue.  Any thoughts?  Is it the case that BRAF inhibitors somehow "don't get to" bone mets?  Thanks in advance for your replies.

      Mat

          Hi Mat,
My husband was on a braf inhibitor for 2.5 years after progressing with 2 mets – one to his rib and one to a lymph node in his abdo area. He was lucky enough to have a complete response – so the rib met is barely detectable on scans. He also had radiation to the rib just prior to starting the trial – so unsure which had the effect – but at this point, the rib is still fine. He does still complain of achey-ness around the rib, but i guess he has essentially had a pathological fracture which has healed – so that isnt completely surprising. Unfort the lymph node has just started growing again, so he’s had to come off the trial and will hopefully start a new one soon ๐Ÿ™‚
Not sure if this is helpful, but he certainly had good results with braf for his bone met.
          Cheers, Lisa
