My doctor called and said the mole is pre-cancerous and that it needs to be removed. I can’t remember the name she used to describe it, but I just remember her saying it’s not cancer yet. I’m very relieved!
I’m changing my sun habits and informing my tanning bed obsessed friends to check their skin and to avoid those damn beds. I’m amazed at how uniformed most people, including myself, are to this disease. It’s not something to play Russian roulette with. No more tanning for me and I’m saying “hello” to sunscreen.
I don’t mean to be too dramatic but these last few weeks made me realize how fragile life is and to never take it for granted. Things could change in an instant. My little inconveniences/stuggles are not really as important as they seem.

Good for you, Stephanie! Our obsession with "looking good" makes us do crazy stuff — and sometimes it takes a wakeup call like this to make us change our ways. Make sure you continue to have yearly full body skin checks by a dermatologist that specialized in skin cancers. Those who have used tanning beds are at a much higher statistical probability to develop melanoma, and catching it early is key!

Yeeeeeha! We’ll take that right??!! Get it removed & stay deligent with aftercare visits, Derm Doc, occasional Onco visits (maybe twice a year) CT, MRI, PET scans a couple times a year, and look your NAKED BUTTASS body over, check all your nooks & crannies for suspicious moles & trolls and yer GOOD GO!.. remember, just because you think your off the hook (and you just may be) continue a PROACTIVE approach with the lil’ list i listed above & youll be in the know! -

Yep, a cancer scare certainly can bring perspective. I grew up in Southern California and got that golden tan we all associated with good health. Glad you are giving that the big Nope. Glad you don't have The Beast. Wishing you luck and diligence.
