I have spoke with Janner about it taking so long for me to receive my WLE since my melanoma diagnosis. First I would like to say that orginally I didn't have my specialists to follow up with after my GP sent my charts over to him. I ended up having to go to another doctor completely which was shocked that no one had followed up considering my diagnosis. Well, the new doc said he would do my WLE himself since he does these kind of things all the time. Plus my melanoma was thin and in an area that I wouldn't have to see a plastic surgeon. Out of curiousity I'm just wanting to know how long each person here had to wait before they performed the WLE on them after their diagnosis? Thanks to all. π

My mel was never found on the skin. But zelboraf caused some squamish and basil that they did the surgeries and WLE. For those the surgery was always Tuesday and the WLE results was always mid Friday afternoon.

3 months for me! The joy of an HMO. I do feel grateful I had insurance and I ended up OK.

It took two months for the General surgeon tht removed my melanoma to do the WLE and remove the two other melanoma tumors he had seen at the first visit. This ws 3 1/2 years after my GP had spent mis-diagnosing me. He then tried to slow roll even seeing me for 6 more months after I found a hugh swelling lymph node 3 months after the WLE. We are all different. Three weeks isn't too bad, if the Primary was removed early.

Hi Wendy.I just had my biopsy on the 27th of November. Biopsy results appointment was on December 12th and then they scheduled my WLE for December 31st. So in 2 days it will be done and I can’t wait. I thought it was a long time personally just because I wanted it done the moment I found out what it was. Seems 3 weeks is normal though from other posts.

Hi Wendy,
I had two separate stage 1 melanomas excised (seven years apart) by WLE. It was 2 weeks for the first one, and 3 for the second. I was at an HMO for both of those, so they could handled everything necessary in-house.
Best, Kyle

Thanks again everyone for all the input. I had my WLE done on the Dec. 26th and am now waiting for the results on that. Fingers crossed we have clear margins. π Now I'm trying to find a doctor to excise a mole that came back abnormal with Spitzoid features. Ugh, sometimes I feel like these doctors could care less with what we go through. All of the mental stuff can make some one crazy! lol
