My doc said yesterday if my tumor sample tests for a certain h receptor I can do this trial. Apparently only 20 percent of us have it.

They take the tumor sample and grow the t-cells. Then two days of chemo to wipe out existing t-cells. Not sure If that is the same thing as dropping white blood cells to zero. Then they inject the new t-cells. When it works he said it is fantastic.

when I said that sounds like the til at nih he said the main difference is how they grow the cells.

So I dunno if this or the til at nih would be better? Very confusing to me.

      Artie-

This different than getting IL-2 etc…. It's on TIL I'm familiar with. Definitely worth a look…are they testing for the receptor on you?

        Hi Artie!

I've not heard of this version of TIL but it sounds exciting!  My doctors consider the MAGE TCR  therapy I got at NIH as basically a combination therapy since I quickly got Pembro after the NIH trail failed.  While the MAGE TCR  failed, the combo worked well…at least it seems to have so far gotten my melanoma under control.  Where is this trail being done?  Did you get your 12th infusion of Keytruda yesterday?  I hope it was a good day for you.

Keep fighting!   You're in my prayers!

Thanks Terrie. Yeah I got dose 12 yesterday. But he says several tumors are still growing so I got to get surgery on shoulder and collar cause he didn't like my radiation idea. It is huge and I'm choking a lot from the collar tumor. Then I got to get into some trial although the pd1 has slowed things way down and wiped out many tumors there's too many still growing. He liked my idea of going to Chicago so we shall see. This t-cell vaccine TIL like thing is in saint Louis. So if I test for it and do it at least it will in my home town. But so few have the receptor they haven't done very many. One thing to consider though is the cells are only for tumors with that receptor. So other tumors might not have it so wouldn't work on them. Thus I'm thinking the nih til could probably be more successful cause they target several things but those things are not specific to my tumor so it's kind of good and bad. I dunno. I'm also still thinking the pd1 anti lag at Chicago. But surgery comes first.

Thanks Josh. It'll be a few weeks cause their planning to do surgery on my shoulder and I assume collar tumors. Basically at best to take out as much as they safely can. At worse just enough for a sample. Dunno yet. But yeah they'll test for that specific receptor. He doesn't expect I'll have it cause so few do. Also it's a phase one trial that hasn't worked often. But when it did it was fantastic.

i hope your surgery goes well too and that you will feel more comfortable afterwards.  They were able to embolize my spinal tumor before they operated, so the blood supply was cut off.  Any chance they could do that for you?  I know it isn't always possible, just wondering.

You know you're in my prayers!

Thsnks Terrie. Not sure. I know they tried that embolize thing on my spine tumor and couldn't do it so no spine surgery for me so I had to rely on a second radiation to keep from being paralyzed. Dunno much about this shoulder surgery yet except my saint Louis doc wants it and last night I found out my mayo doc thinks I should do radiation instead. So I dunno which doc to listen to.
