I had my eyes checked again yesterday and I still have the Uveitis and am back on the prednisone drops and dilating ones, he said that I should not have the last infusion if they suggest it at the Carbone Cancer center next appointment, I said the Oncoligist never mentioned the side effect with my eyes at our meeting so will have to mention it to him. I have read that only 1% of people get this while on the drug. I am looking for any input on this.

If these drops don't help by next Weds then he may have to put some shots in my eyes, something that I just cringe at so hoping and praying that the drops do the job.

I had 3 infusions of yervoy and had to stop because of the terrible side effects. I am sorry to say that the worse side effect was with my eyes (esp. the left one)
Most doctors just do not know about these side effects and they do not know what to do about them. Its been many months since I stopped the yervoy and my eyes are sore and blurry. I take drops every night. The drops help the soreness but my eyes are still blurry. I wear glasses which helps. Also you might want to use a product like Sustane which just helps a bit.
Sorry…unfortunately the yervoy did not help with the cancer either. I recently needed radical surgery. I hope that you had better results at least.

Sorry to hear that you did not respond to the Yervoy, my doctor doesn't think I am either since I have 4 new tumors on my arm, having a cat scan and mri done on the 26th, my 3rd infusion was on the 20th so hoping for good results.

Yes I was on MDX-010 trial (Yervoy) and developed eye issues requiring steroids (systemic and shots to eye area). check out all the details: go to 'Profiles" section of this board, do a search on "Rocco". About 1/4 of the way up from the bottom of my lengthy profile details my last MDX treatment (Feb 2009), eye side effects, steroid treatments, etc.
Let me know if you or your Onc want the name of my Opthamologist who treated my eyes specifically for this. He reported his findings back to my Onc at Dana Farber. FYI – shots for me were located just under the eye (not in the eye itself) toward the outer corner. Count to 6 and it's over with – also found almost immediate relief after the shots. Oh yeah, been NED ever since last MDX/Yervoy treatment – that was in Feb 2009 and MDX still worked while on steroids!
Let me know how this goes for you…I'll help any way I can. I wish you the best~

My eye doctor is very good and he has sent all my medical to Madison just don't know if they got it there yet since I got in right away to the cancer center, quicker then I thought I would.

I have a opthomologist appointment in a few weeks and I will be sure to run the eye problems you and others are having past him. I already have glaucoma problems and need for him to be aware of potential eye problems and possibly run any tests to keep ahead of future issues.I did know that Uveitis was a potential problem and there is a Uveitis specialist at OSU..so if I have any issues I will get a referral there. I hope that your problems resolve quickly and that you don't need the injections

Hello.
I also had problems with my eyes from Yervoy, but mine were a little different. I had extremely elevated eye pressures. My vision got blurry. They had to treat me with four different drops for several weeks to get the pressures under control. Everything is back to normal now.
I keep hearing of more and more people with eye related issues from Yervoy. I know that they reported my case to the FDA because it was something my doctor had not seen before.

If you want to improve your eyesight naturally, you should know first the eye exercises that can strengthen the muscle of your eyes & reduces eyestrain, eye exercises such as Call The Ball, Follow Your Thumb, Palming, Bead And String, Look Away. Healthy diet is very important too, eat foods like Carrot, Eggs, Milk, Apricots, Berries, Black Currants, Cold-water Fish, Collard Green, Grapefruits, Grapes, Lemons, Plums, Spinach, Fish Oil, Raw Garlic(fresh).
