Hi Maria, I have read lots of different articles on supplements and cancer. Since I was stage 4 lung liver lymph nodes I eliminated sugar sweet things as much as possible. I do have fresh fruit drinks which I blend and have fruit and veg each day . I take vit D turimic, garlic,cq10, cod liver oil, not sure if it does help with my melanoma or not. My consultant just said each fresh veg, fruit normal diet . We would all do anything if we could get rid of this cancer I try and eat well and the supplements are not just for my melanoma I have arthuritus .

Have you stopped taking your supplements

There is lots more people on here with longer dealing with this disease and can give there views on supplements

      all the best

      Maria,

Here is a post I made just a bit ago about that very contraversy with articles and my comments.  I think there is much we don't understand.  Period.  And…taking every possible supplement, especially in high doses (with the idea that if a bit is good…a lot must be better!) can in fact, at times, cause harm.  Overall, I think a good melanoma specialist and common sense (good diet, good exercise) will turn out to be the winning ticket.

      But here's the post:  http://chaoticallypreciselifeloveandmelanoma.blogspot.com/2015/10/the-latest-antioxidant-contraversy.html

A link to another post regarding the research and vitamin D is contained within.

      Hope it helps.  Celeste

I use a doctor who incorporates alternative treatments and she told me that too many antioxidants are not good for you and can be counterproductive.

She has thirty years of experience with cancer patients so i guess she has more insight than most.

        Another interesting topic….

I have never been one to take much in the way of viamins or supplements….other than a multi vitamin, as reccommended by my eye doctor due to family history of Macular degeneration….

When I saw my FIRST ever oncologist, after last year's recurrence I asked her (as many of you know Dr. Pavlick at NYU) if she reccommended any supplements.  I was shocked to hear her say yes….there were three that she has many of her patients take.

Resveratrol- 500 mg 1x a day, Tumeric 500mg 2x a day, and Paba 1000mg 2x a day….she gave a few anecdotal  examples of why, and I have since incorporated these 3 into my reg. routine, in addition to Vitamin D, 2000IU.

As  I said I have NEVER been a big vitamin and or supplement taker, so this was a lot for me.  Wonder if its worth revisitng this now……

I feel like i have so many bigger questions to have answered!!!!
