      After being diagnosed Stage 1 back in Nov 2010, I have been hyper-vigilant about any changes on my skin. At the end of June, I went for a pedicure. The heels on both my feet are quite rough and thick. Anyhow, about a week after my pedicure, I developped a blister-type of bump. Hurt like crazy but eventually the hurt subsided. I went to my podiatrist on June 19th (last weeK). He looked at it and said it looked like a blood blister and I shouldn't be so worried. He cut it off, cleaned it up and sent me home to change my bandage every day. I saw him again today.

He said because of my melanoma history, he wants me to see my dermatologist. Dermatology appointment tomorrow at 1pm. I hate this. I really really do.

          Did the podiatrist say anything about sending the "bump" to a pathologist for biopsy?

          Seems the Pod should have refered you and let the derm do a biopsy instead though.

          Betting it is nothing though, as your melanoma was on your back and this is on your heel.

              No, he didn't send it for a biopsy. He called it an old blood blister. I told him about my melanoma history and he told me that in his 30 years in the podiatry business, he's seen his fair share of melanoma on the feet and he told me that this is nothing but a blister. Today, when he removed the scab that only began forming 5 days ago, a tiny little pinkish/redish thing is right in the middle of where the scab was.

              I had gone for a pedicure about a week before this "thing" appeared and the pedicurist was quite rough with the pumice stone. Two summers ago, my right heel had been cut quite badly (about 1/4 an inch deep) by a pedicurist using that shaving tool to remove dead skin. Took awhile before it healed and it stung and was sore for a few weeks afterwards. I'm praying to God Almighty that this is nothing but a simple injury from the cheap $25 pedicure.

              I'm looking all over the web for pictures of melanoma on the feet and they look nothing like what I have on my heel. Mine looks like raw skin with a bit of dry skin on the edges and a tiny pinkish/redish bump in the middle of the raw skin. He needed a magnifying glass to get a good look at it.

                  Yea!!  Celebrate – Thank God for warts.  I'm happy to hear it is good news.  It's always a frightening time if something isn't quite right.  You won this one!!   Beth 3/B

                      Great news! 

                      Melanoma tends to take over our lives and sometimes we don't see the obvious our thoughts and our Doctors thoughts go right to the beast.
