Hi everyone!
I hope you all are having a good day today. I had been training for a 5k charity run for our local Cancer Resource Center that was to occur at the end of October. With my recent craniotomy, 5k is just not going to happen, but there is also an option for a 2 mile walk, which given my recover is definitely possible and I plan to participate in that segment instead. I have a few team members (my mom and some co-workers), but we need a good team name and I was hoping perhaps some of you out there might have some good ideas.
I'd love to hear any ideas any of you have for a team name
Thanks, and again, I sincerely hope you are all well today

That's wonderful, Eva!! You have probably come up with an awesome name already…but at my house we are partial to: The Melanoma Avengers!!!!
Here's a blip from a 1/2 marathon relay we did together: http://chaoticallypreciselifeloveandmelanoma.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-melanoma-avengers.html
In the first 6 months of my trial we were the Perky Peptide Patient and her Perky Peptide Posse (Yep!! The boys had very cute shirts, too!!!) because of how painful and yucky the injections were! But, I don't really recommend that name as the peptides were proven to have no positive effect!!! It helped us get through it though! http://chaoticallypreciselifeloveandmelanoma.blogspot.com/2011/05/ppp-pinky-pink-power-womenor.html
Don't know if The Melanoma Avengers appeals to you and your peeps! But, you are welcome to it if you like it. Let us know what you decide!
Good luck, Celeste

Great suggestions all! Here's another few for your consideration
Beast Tamers
Amonalem (as in reversing melanoma disease)
Shady Ladies (works if you're all women and believe avoiding sun is a good thing in the melanoma fight)
That was fun. Thanks for the creative assignment!
Best of luck on your walk – Maggie

Thanks everyone for your ideas. We did decide to theive "Melanoma Avengers". Decided against "Shady Laides" as my husband and a couple others on the team are not ladies, but my father's suggestion "Mela-No-More's" was a pretty close second. Now we'll see how much money we can raise over the next month (due to my surgery and late registration we're a bit behind time-wise). I think we can do pretty well between our work and family networks (I have a very large extended family and a lot of good, supportive friends not only in our area but in other states and in Canada, my husband has a much smaller but generally supportive and generous family and other networks of friends who are also very supportive, etc). I wish I was able to run, but I'm still not even allowed to drive so a 5k is just not going to happen, but I sure can walk 2 miles. My team so far consists of myself, my husband and my mother (all walking), a former classmate and a co-worker (who will be running) and a former professer of mine (not sure if she's walking or running yet, but she has joined the team). I'm excited to see how many join us and how much we can raise for this really wonderful local organization that does so much good for the community. I don't know what other similar local organizations are out there, but I do know that this one really goes the extra mile whenever possible. Every day they spend at least half the day visiting, sitting with, and talking to people recieving their various chemotherapies, especially if they don't have any family with them. They also take orders for whatever food or drink the patient might like/feels up to eating or drinking and purchase it from the hospital cafeteria or cafe then deliver it to the patient in the infusion suite. When I was having trouble with our insurance company claiming they would not pay for any care if i joined a trial they went to bat for me and offered a miriad of options to help with travel even though we never asked for help in that department. They host a lot of support groups and give free hats and head scarves to those who need them (these come both as donations from those lucky enough to get remissions and from purchases they make with donated monies or funds raised by events such as this upcoming 5k). I have donated a few scarves and have several more I had intended to donate, but at the moment I'm glad I haven't as they have come in very useful for protecting and covering my fresh craniotomy incision.
Anyway, I'm really pleased that I can do some fundraising for a local non-profit that is really wonderful and has really helped me at times. It feels good to be able to give something back.
