My Mom was diagnoised with stage IV melanoma and we discovered she had brain cancer a few weeks later.  She had 8 of 9 mets treated in December 2013.  One was thought to be a blood vessel and was not treated.  She started Yervoy a few days later.

We have a second appointment with a neuro-oncologist abut the brain mets this week and we are hoping for the best.  In our first consutation after the surgery he said the results were mixed.  Some tumers shrank, some were stable and a few were larger, but those could be attributed to Yervoy.

My Mom's oncologist felt Yervoy with gamma knife radiation would be best for her.  She has responded very well to Yervoy and we are hoping that she has the same results with her brain as she's had with the other tumors.

Check out the link below about brain mets and Yervoy treatment. Patients live much longer taking Yervoy in conjuction with having gamma knife radiation.

They used to say that one had to stop treatment of body mets while they treated the brain mets, Within the past year they have learned that continuing immunology treatments while radiating the bran mets does extend life better than trying to stop working on one, while just attacking the other.  Good luck with Mom's treatments.
