5th cycle of Zelboraf

    Hi just wondering for those on Zelboraf….once you have reached your 5th cycle do you then have a scan in 3 months? I find that weird considering the median response is 7months? My dad in Melbourne will now be scanned at the 8th month unless they feel something by physical exam.

        Like you dad I am on Zelboraf for just over 5 months now.It does work like a miracle drug.Will see doc o 2/21. At that time I will ask for a scan..Remember this drug is so new that noone knows for  sure how ong it will work.The 7 months is just a number.There is someone on this  site who is on Zelboraf for 23 months.Hope we can all be on it for well over that while waiting for a real cure.My prayers go out to you.

      Since the start of my Zelboraf treatment, I have had scans every six weeks.  From February 2010 to July 2011 they were PET/CT scans then just CT (CT scan scheduled for February 13th).  My doctor visits were every three weeks until June 2011 and then they changed to every six weeks.  Also, during the entire period, I have had derm evaluations every twelve weeks.

      Probably not the information you are seeking since these frequencies are governed by the trial protocols but I thought I would pass on anyway.

      Nahmi, I think that 3 to 6 monthly scans are ideal unless there is a reason to have a scan sooner. 

      I wouldn't take the median response time too seriously. I feel that statistics only measure what has happened with a group of people in the past, and therefore might not necessarily predict what will happen in every individual case.
