Hi Pennie,
I have been a patient at Moffitt Cancer Center since 2005. My medical oncologist is Dr. Jeff Weber. Dr. Regini Kudchadkar (female) is also in the cutaneous department and is highly recommended by the nursing staff. I believe one of the main reasons that I am alive today is because of my surgeon at Moffitt.
I read your profile and see that you are Stage IIB but there is a spot on your lung. I'm assuming that the spot on your lung is benign or being watched. Anyway, I think it's great that you are being referred to Moffitt. You need to stay one step ahead of this disease. It is a well respected melanoma center. (I love the rescue kitties, too)
Feel free to email me or post if you would like to talk or know more.

Thanks all so much, I will recommend these Drs. to my primary that is making the arrangements for me to be seen at Lee Moffitt. The oncologist also gave me the name of a Dr. Jonathan Zager. So glad I posted here, I value your feedback!
King, the scans found a suspicious spot on my lung that is being watched and x-rayed again in 4 months.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading and research online about melanoma and am so glad that I’ll be seeing a melanoma specialist.
I wish you all the very best and am very thankful for your replies :).
Take Care,

Thank you so much Dawna, it is about a two and a half hour drive, so if I just have to be there a few hours I'll be good. I will keep your generosity in mind if a longer stay is necessary. I truly appreciate your kindness π ~Pennie

We moved to Dunnellon,Fl from North Dakota so I can be closer to Moffitt…Dr Weber is the best! He is theis the director of the Donald A. Adam Comprehensive Melanoma Research Center at Moffitt …
..this guy answers his own e-mails ( I have wrote several times), telephones me when I have left messages with nurse…and conducts his own physical exams…He knows his patients and I wouldn't go anywhere else! -

Pennie Dr. Zager is a great surgeon, you are in good hands with him. His Nurse's name is Roz…. and a very special person. No less of a praise for Dr. Weber and Jennifer.
Hope things go well for you @ Moffit.

I had my appointment at Moffitt on Monday and was unbelievably pleased with the care that I received. I met Dr. Zager, his nurse Roz and many other wonderful and efficient people.
Scheduled to see a thoracic Dr. for the lung nodule Jan. 11, on the same day am scheduled on another floor for a pulmonary function test.
Having the wide local excision, lymph node mapping, sentinel lymph node biopsy and possible lung biopsy on January 13 or 14. I'm also participating in the lymphoseek trial, which is near the end.
I was wondering what your recoveries were like for the WLE and SNB? The WLE will be mid back and the SNB will either be under the arm or neck area. They say I can most likely go home the same day, glad about that π
