New Freckle on Excision Scar

I wouldn't be too concerned if it doesn't look atypical. I would say monitor it closely over the next few weeks/months, but if it just looks like a freckle chances are it may just be a freckle. It's good to be vigilant though and if it is really concerning you then maybe move up your next appointment with your dermatologist so they can examine it.

Hey- I'm a stage 3ber from 2013-started in my arm a hit my lymph nodes.  I went back for a follow up 6 months and a freckle appeared at my primary site-they said it was probably nothing but the dermatologist told me that if I ask the question then I already know the answer-get it cut off-it's easy.  If you are worried than the cost benefit analysis leans towards an easy punch biopsy.  I wouldn't be stage 3b if I would have listened to my gut. See my original dermatologist told me not to worry about my mole-I let it go for a year and now I'm up to my ears in melanoma.  My dermatologist at Mayo said if you question a mole get it cut-no question about it.  Good luck

a few weeks ago, I noticed a small bee-bee sized lump just off my original wle site on my lower leg. I went to the derm dept. at Emory to have a look.  The surgeo, Dr. Blaylock told me  rule of thumb that anything suspicious within 2cm of the original lesion should be checked.  So The surgeon checked by opening the area and it we turned out to be a ganglion cyst.  So, likely it is nothing but always good to check!

I have huge scars on my knees from multiple surgeries.  I have two freckles in those and I have no other freckles on my legs.  I also have several very large freckles on one WLE scar, but that is in a field of freckles on my back.  None of those freckles are melanoma.  But, pigment regrowth in ANY WLE tissue should be shown to your doc.  It doesn't have to be melanoma, but it should be seen.
