      Hi,

There is the Ocular site on this board. Also, if you are on facebook we have a huge group of Ocular Mel people and the site is private so that employers, family, etc. will not see your posts.

I have Ocular Melanoma that is a rare one. It is on the conjunctival surface rather than inside the eye. The most common site is what you have, Choroidal Melanoma. I am one of the patient profiles on here. I would love to invite you to our Ocular Group, it will help you greatly!

There also will be an Ocular Symposium in Houston at MD Anderson in March. I went to the one in Philadelphia last June. The doctors from the Wills Eye Hospital spoke.

You can contact me through here or in a private email @smlescure@comcast.net

I look forward to meeting you and getting you some valuable connections!

      Hi Ruth,

I lost my eye and eyelids in October. My melanoma is conjunctival melanoma. I have a patch of skin from my thigh covering the eye cavity. I will be getting a prosthesis.

Wills is awesome! Sara Lally was my surgeon and everyone is compassionate there!

I am attending the symposium and will meet you and your partner. I hope he does well and heals fast. Please keep us posted.

      Hugs,

      Suzanne

Hi Tom, it’s good to hear from you. I guess there is so much to learn from the process of this and I am glad you are adjusting slowly but surely. I will be having a consultation about my prosthetic procedure at the end of March. I am seeing Juan Garcia. He is an anaplastologist. He will be constructing not only my eye, but making the surrounding artificial lids an skin all around the area.

You should check him out on google, he is from Johns Hopkins. I am excited to start looking normal again!

Hope to hear more of your journey!
