      Hi,

I was diagnosed as Stage 1a with a thickness of 0.82 or right around there.  My dermatologist told me I had a 4-7% chance of recurrence.  That was just my experience but I was diagnosed in 2008 and staging might have changed a bit since then.

My Oncologist told me the same thing about PET scanners and quality.  He said the mobile units give a lower quality scan compared to a permanent scanner.  Also surprisingly enough, (at least it was to me) my insurance did pay for a second scan – my first one ever was in a mobile unit as I live in a rural area and I had no idea there was a difference.

      Hi Josh,

Thanks for asking this question.  I've been thinking of posting this type of question the last few days.  I was curious what other people that had responded had experienced too. I've just had my third Opdivo infusion so am hoping to notice some response myself.  Best wishes with your treatment!

I went from Stage 1a in 2008 to Stage lllC in January 2016 and now Stage lV in August 2016 despite surgery, radiation therapy and three doses of ipi.  Only symptom that I had was a lump in my groin.  During those eight years I got married and had two kids so, needless to say, I am devastated since I was told I had a 4-7% chance of the melanoma metasticizing to my lymph nodes.  Taking Opdivo now and waiting to fall on the right side of the stats this time!!    Christal

It was a lump under the skin. There was no way to miss it if you would run your over that area.  Hope that helps!

Yes, it was superficial and easy to feel.  I have to admit after eight years I had become a little lax about checking the lymph nodes.  I had seen my dermatologist about four months earlier and she had checked them and felt nothing.  Christal
