Bio | My step-father was taking the chemotherapy drug, Abraxane and had very little success with this. He has stage IV BRAF-Negative, Wild-gene mutation melanoma. He has liver mets, lung mets and lymph node involvement. His liver was having a hard time perfusing the abraxane and as a result his stomach became very swollen, because of this he has had three paracentesis’ and just a few days ago they inserted a peritoneal catheter to drain the accumulated fluid daily. Since he is BRAF-Negative there seems to be very little treatment hope out there. I have heard things about the ipi (ipilimumab) and the E-7080 (Eisai). My step-father has been approved for ipi treatment and I was wondering if anyone who has had melanoma of the liver would recommend the Eisai over the ipi or vice versa? Also, initially Doug opted for high doses of Vitamin C intravenously, which did seem to help stabilize his cancer, but with the liver involvement, it just wan’t sufficient on it’s own. |
