I will be praying for you and your friend's family.  There are no words to ease the loss and heartache you are feeling.  My greatest fear is my melanoma returning and having to leave my 3 year old son without a mother.  Be there for the children.  Your friend would want that.  God Bless!

I am 32 and also recently diagnosed.  Our situations are very similar.  I am also diagnosed as stage 3.  My tumor was on my right upper thigh.  I had 2 surgeries removing the tumor and removing all lymph nodes in my groin area.  My oncologist also didn't recommend interferon.  I may still choose to do it anyway.  I have a 2 1/2 year old son.  I have to know that I am doing something to fight this.  My doc did recommend a clinical trial.  You should know the trial is drug vs. placebo.  I'm not sure how you feel about that, but the drug is ipilimumab.  Good luck on your journey.

Sorry, about the delay in responding.  I forgot my password to get on here, and honestly I forgot I made this post.  I elected to do the 30 days of interferon.  It is almost March and I feel pretty good.  I had clean scans in January.  My March scans will be clean too.  I just know it.  🙂  Thanks for your input.

I'm so sorry you have to experience this fear.  Please know that you aren't alone.  I am a 32 year old single mom of a 2 1/2 year old son that was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma in July.  I've already had 2 surgeries removing a tumor on my right thigh and all lymph nodes in my right groin.  I am seeing my dermatologist on tuesday because I have some new spots that popped up on my left shoulder and have changed rapidly.  I am also terrified.  Please email me if you ever want to talk.  I understand what you are going through.
