Born in Rep of Ireland. Trained as Pharmasist. Married in 1972, first child boy Aug 1973 moved to England 1975 second child daughter born Dec 1975. 3rd child another daughter born Feb 1978. Trained as teacher -1 year course 79/80 as Pharmacy qual not recognised in England and wanted to be able to work. 4th and last child a boy born feb 1981. Husband a consultant physician/rheumatologist. All children now medical doctors and both sons married to doctors. Developed breast cancer in 1998 and had right mastectomy with right axilary clearence and 6mts chemo. During this time I was able to continue with my normal life and work which was teaching difficult or sick teenagers unable or not allowed to attend school. I changed my career in 2002 and began helping my husband with clinical research – I intend to return shortly to this now very part time work. I have 6 grandchildren and regularly help with their care. Aged between 12yrs and 1yr – 3 in Australia.
