Bio

I am a Special Education teacher in Bakersfield, Ca. I have been teaching for ten years. I was diagnosed with desmoplastic melanoma at the age of 32, exactly one month prior to marrying my husband. We were able to get married and go on our honeymoon. I went in for my ten hour surgery and seven day stay in the hospital, the day after returning from our honeymoon. I had my lower left jaw removed and replaced with my left fibula. After surgery I had 30 treatments of radiation.
My husband and I now have an 8 month old little girl and I am cancer free. I am in the middle of reconstructing my jaw so that I can get teeth on the lower left side. I have undergone the first 4 hour surgery, with one more to go. I also just finished 30 treatments in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
