No, this is a HIPPA issue. I do not believe they can release info to your employer.

I dug a bit deeper regarding HIPPA regulations:
http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/understanding/consumers/index.html
On this webpage, look at "Who can look at and recieve your health information"
They cannot provide information to your employer without your written authorization.

HI Pennie,
I am sorry you had such a difficult time with the blood draw. I hope surgery goes well on Friday and know that I am thinking of you.
Don't skimp on your pain meds. remember that pain medication works best when taken at the onset of pain. Be comfortable!
Be sure to post back and let me know how you are doing.
Take care,
Joan

I met with Dr Ernstoff and he is truly an awesome oncologist. He has a wonderful way of making you feel very calm. I saw him as the first of my "2 opinions" when I was first diagnosed in December. He spent a huge amount of time with my hubby and I explaining everything there was to know about my upcoming surgery ..and the pros and cons of the SLNB. I truly appreciated his patience with all my questions…which he actually answered most of my questions before I even asked.
I felt equally comfortable with DHMC and MGH. The reason I went with MGH was they offered me a surgical opening must sooner than I expected. You can't go wrong with either facility in my oppinion, but MGH may have a slight lead in the "cutting edge" of cancer research.
That said, Lebanon would be a much further drive from Portland than Boston would be.

Still sore and a lttle swelling near the breast tissue on that one trouble side but it gets a bit better each day. I resumed "normal activities" yesterday and started on the elliptical but without the arm motion per doctors instruction. Still need to wait another 2 weeks for that.
Keep the faith, Pennie and best of luck with your procedure!
