Thank you for your responses.  My dad has failed the braf brain met trial at Vanderbilt so I don't think PLX would work for him.  He's got to get the brain mets resolved to get into another trial any way and we don't think there is a lot of time.  He may still not meet the parameters of the trials with his declining health.  Ipi is really the only thing we can start taking quickly but I know it may not even work and if it does it may be too late.  But we have to try. Where would he get ipi or yervoy from.  Just an oncologist?

It's the second trial from the bottom.

Someone mentioned it was not listed at Vanderbilt but here is the link if it is the same one:

Thank you all for your replies.  GSK does have a trial for brain mets using their braf inhibitor at Vandy where my dad is already so this is good that he's there waiting, since he was excluded from the braf/mek trial at the last minute due to these brain mets.  But I'm just wondering if this is the best way to go right now.  Although my dad has a rather large and painful tumor on his head/neck area and they really can't operate on it because he's has extensive surgery in that area or near it before for the initial tumors that were found.  So braf may give him the best relief for this tumor the quickest.  Just reading the prognosis of brain mets is scary and I don't like sitting around waiting but hopefully he'll get into the braf trial next week.  Sorry for rambling, I feel like we're in this race right now to save him!

I just haven't heard of anyone doing the GSK braf trial for brain mets-is this because it's so new?
