      Hi all,

I visited this site a lot but don't write on it a lot. I care so much for everyone here and truly hate this disease!!! My husband had scans on Thursday and has a new 1.5 cm nodule in his liver. Everything else is stable but having a different organ involved is terrifying. He had a MRI this morning so we're in the awful state of waiting and wondering what's the best option. Please give me advice on what's best for Bill.

      love to all,

      maureen

Is he BRAF positive? If so, going the targeted route may be next step. If not, maybe trying pembro or pembro + IDO inhibitor combo. I would look into or ask his oncologist what trials are open currently. I am sure Celeste or Ed will have some good links for you soon.

              Hey Maureen,

Sorry you are dealing with all this again.  Is Bill still taking the HER-2 meds?  Were the only remaining lesions limited to his lungs?  If the only "new" thing you are dealing with is in his liver….given his past history…I would be talking to his docs about whether surgical removal or ablation of the liver lesion is a possibility.  Hang in there.  C

                  Celeste,

I was hoping you would write. Yes he's still taking the breast cancer drug. Everything in the lungs is stable and has been stable for over a year. This is new. Bill had a possible liver met a year and a half ago, but I think the medicine worked and they call it a cyst. Bill is attending ASCO on Saturday and hoping to talk to a few melanoma specialists to make a decision. Do you have any research on the pros or cons on surgery vs ablation? Thanks so much!

Pls do not worry yourselves. To me, liver is way better than lungs or brain for example, just my opinion only! I afraid it would be back to lungs or brain, but liver…it can be desected and even grows back! My aunt had almost 40% desection due to liver cancer a decade ago,   but more than half grew back within 1-4 years (iseems to stop growing back after few years,  i.e. body adjusts ), now she has more than 80% of her liver.

Hi Maureen, I just read your reply to Celeste about Bill being at ASCO. I was going to give you these links but it seems Bill is ahead of the game! https://am.asco.org/ and this one on the abstracts section http://abstracts.asco.org/199S/search.php?zoom_query=melanoma+immunotherapy&op.x=24&op.y=3&op=Search I hope he finds some ideas in Chicago!!! Best Wishes!!Ed
