I was reading on BBC about a blood test that could potentialy detect the spread of Melanoma by looking for TFP12 markers. Has anyone heard of this or know anything about it? Does anyone know when it might be available either in trial or in the mainstream?

The time needed to go from research to human trials can often take years (5+ if additional research pans out). And there have been many times that something is seen in a lab that doesn't translate to clinical value. This press release is interesting but it is scientists announcing their discoveries and it is not at the human trial stage yet. If everything went well, it could still be over 10 years easily before this was something either available by trial or something approved. I wouldn't hold your breath yet. Other blood tests for melanoma looked promising in the lab but failed to deliver so far. We can be hopeful, but it will be "future".
