Does anyone have suggestions for a family member diagnosed with stage iv melanoma and no insurance? Unfortunately, we do not qualify for medicaid, but are far (very very far) from being wealthy. Thanks!
P.s. I already looked into every type of insurance – can’t find anything.

Much depends on where you live and how long it's been since she/he has had insurence and whether or not they work.
If they are not working they can get "fast tracked" on disability at Stage 4. If has been less that 6 months since they have had insurence they may qualify for insurance under the HIPPA laws. Most big carriers offer HIPPA insurance. That's how I got my sister, who has epilepsy, Insurance but it's not cheap. Still fighting to get her on disability, even though she lost her job because she was have so many seizures. They denied disability because seizures "can" be controlled by medication. Ahhh love our system. People believe that Obamacare has you covered already but it doesn't as you and I know.
Good Luck,
Mary

Hello,
This may or may not be helpful to you, but I was recently diagnosed with stage I (so far-pending another path report from a different spot, so hopefully will stick to stage I) but I do not have insurance either… So far, Ive had the biopsy, full excision, and a wide excision, (wide excision was for 2 different spots, in the same surgery)
I have not received a bill yet, but what I am doing is working out a payment plan with the office…. (I do not see a specialist, i see a plastic surgeon, due to the area of the lesion) I told them I would pay $100/month to start, and more depending on the size of the first bill, they were agreeable to that….
I DO work, but if I got insurance through work, my deductible would be $3000, PLUS regular premium payments out of every check… So instead, I figure direct payments to the hospital would be cheaper….
HOWEVER… as I said, this is only the plastic surgeon, and this is only for stage I…(so far) …I dont know how much medication/drugs/radiation, etc costs, and Im sure would wind up with high payments for a very long time, IF they work out a payment plan with you….
OR
An alternative and/or contribution to treatment, which is less expensive and potentially MORE effective, something I am looking into, and would be using if I turn into anything more than a stage I is HELP OIL….. I saw this documentary about this man who created this hemp oil substance, that can be used topical, OR ingested, a small amount every day, or numerous times per day, and there are a number of people on the documentary who have had unsuccessful radiation and ended up turning to help oil, and it CURED them… Not shrunk their tumor, not helped ease symptoms, but CURED…. Of course, this is a substance that must be VERY carefully made, and according to where you live, could be VERY illegal…. but, in small scale, if you or someone you know are confident in your abilities to make this (step by step directions are also online) it could be very successful… Worth a try. And like I said, thats where Im headed if things get worse!!!!
You can look up this documentary, there are different variations of it, but its from a guy named "steve"-something….
Anywho, so those are a couple things to think about:
1)payment arrangements with the hospital
2)Help oil treatment
