    Can anyone give me some examples of what a recurrnce located in your WLE would look like.   I had a WLE at the end of June and recently noticed a small bump emerge in the scar.  The bump is red so it makes it hard to tell if it just a normal part of the scaring process.

    My melanoma dx has made me a constant worrier.

      Honestly, this may be something as simple as an internal stitch being "rejected" and trying to find it's way out.  That's probably the most common problem in the scar area after the WLE.  Don't jump to conclusions – especially when there are things like cysts, seromas, scar tissue and errant stitches that could all be the cause!  🙂  Talk to your derm….

        I had a bump in my WLE scar show up 4 months after my procedure. It turned black and looked horrible. It ended up being my internal stitches. The dr said they had popped from being tight and it was blood pooling. It is now back to normal. I would have your dr look at it to be safe.

      I agree with both I hve had an old stitch that came out way to late…. and i had a small " Frozen pea" under my wle after about 11 months which turned out to an almond then olive tapped positive and spread to other nodes. Mine it nodes then bones.

      I tend to scar bad! My scars will sometimes form hard, red bumps. I’ve had so many melanomas removed that I’m used to seeing my scars do weird things:)

      My father had his first local recurrence on his suture scar about five months post surgery. Since the incision had already settled well, the lump was worrisome from the get-go. After that tumor was removed, he had three small bumps appear a few weeks later, which his surgeon and oncologist both felt were suture scars but which grew rapidly and turned out to be melanoma as well. The key for me was how quickly they grew. Best to have it biopsied just to be safe.
