Hi! I was diagnosed yesterday with Choroidal Melanoma. It was a complete shock! I went to my eye doctor on Tuesday for my routine eye exam. When he dilated my eyes he saw something that "caused hin great concern" on my right retina. He thought I might have a detached retina and scheduled me an appoinment with a retinal specialist yesterday. the retinal specialist did the dye/photo test as well as an ultrasound. He then looked at me and broke the news. I was devestated!
I now have an appointment with 2 specialists in Memphis, TN on March 17. (I live in Louisiana) I'm super nervous and scared of losing my eye. He did not tell me if it was a small, medium or large tumor. I am having MRI and CT scans done today in preparation for my appointments in Memphis.
I have two small children and the thought of not being able to see their beautiful faces with full vision is depressing. The docotr I saw yesterday seemed hopeful that this will be able to be treated with the plaque radiation and that i would not lose my eye. Fingers crossed he is right.
Can anyone give me some insight from a patient's point of view? What is in store for me?

Plaque radiation is fine but it's not the only way to go. One option would be to get a quick second opinion, as technologies such as proton beam radiation are more efficient in certain situations (depending largely on where the tumor is in the eye) and have slightly different effects on the eye.
All the technologies are quite reliable in terms of sterilizing the tumor (something like 95% or maybe better).
Most patients would urge you to have a fine needle biopsy done if possible. Sometimes doctors say this is not possible because of the location or size of the tumor, but if you're told this, press a little to make sure the doctor isn't merely trying to dissuade you from having it done because he doesn't think it's useful. It is. You can have the cells genetically tested, the results will drive the type of follow-up treatment you receive and the quality/frequency of follow-up scans you get.

Hello everyone,
I’ve been reading a lot of information about CBD oil and it’s made me curious. This forum is really the only place I feel comfortable asking about something like this since I know everyone here gives their honest opinion. I guess these questions are for the people that use it.
What do you use it for? Like is it for medical purposes?
Where do you get it?
How do you consume it?

Hi, I had choroidal melanoma, it can be a big deal, but doesn’t have to be. My right eye was removed, and it was quite traumatic. It was 4 years ago, and I am fine now. Don’t make the mistake I made, don’t lose your identity, and become a victim of, or become identified with being a cancer patient, or cancer survivor. Don’t give it tha kind of power. I never suffered physical pain of any kind, it’s not a bad ilness to have, I never got sick, haha. Emotional suffering from it was my problem, don’t do that, stay in the present moment as much as possible, at 1st that is difficult, but it will get better. PEACE -

CBD was recommended to me for anxiety and depression about a month ago.
I've suffered anxiety and depression for as long as I can remember. I managed it for a while with vitamins and exercise, but a little over a year ago the depression and anxiety became overwhelming. They helped, but it was still there. Antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds have been recommended, but the idea of an adverse reaction making it worse was terrifying.
A few months ago PMDD (pre menstral dysphoric disorder) appeared. A week or so before my period, anxiety went in to overdrive. I would wake up terrified. I was afraid to leave my house, go to work, I convinced myself I was a terrible mother and my daughter would be better off somewhere else. Horrible, awful, crippling fear. Even auditory hallucinations. I felt borderline psychotic, like I wasn't in control of my thoughts. All created soley by out of whack hormones.
And this happened every month!!
Enter CBDs.
I started taking 20Mg CBD capsules every morning about a month ago. Within a couple days, I felt better.
In less than a week, anxiety and depression significantly dissipated and I just feel normal. I’m positive and energetic. I'm eating better, exercising again, and I don't have a lead weight on my chest that prevents me from making decisions or doing what I need to.
PMDD hasn't shown up whatsoever. I've had unusually strong cravings for chocolate milkshakes the last couple days, but I'll take that over the bs I was going through.
