Can anyone tell me about how long does it take to get over interferon treatments. We have finished our treatments and the wife seems to be as tired as ever. How long before side effects go away. Contact me at [email protected]

It sounds as though it can vary greatly.  Our doctor just told us sometimes it takes a year.  My husband has done very well, but kept active while taking interferon.  He still has days that feel as though he's still on the stuff.  Hope you see improvement soon.

Of course, we are all individuals and experienced various side effects from Interferon.  I did 12 months of Interferon and I think it took about 6-8 weeks to get most of my energy back.  However, many side effects linger and sometimes we just have to get used to a new normal.  I also believe that drinking lots of water and doing planned physical exercise will help with the fatigue.

It took me a year, but most people I know the timeframe is 45 to 90 days.

Interferon side effects and recovery are so individualized.  I did much better on the high dose IV interferon but struggled with the 11 months of Sub Q.  I finished my 12 months on June 30th, 2010.  My most prominent symptoms were large leg muscle soreness, graying/thinning of the hair, constipation and mainly bone dead tired.  Post interferon my hair has not come back to normal.  Maybe it is my age at 53.  All the other symptoms had dissapated by 2 weeks afterwards.  There is a life post interferon and I don't miss the injections.  I have a desk job and worked through it.  I don't have to take naps when I come home anymore.

Hang in there, it gets better,
