      Dear forum community,

The MRF Patient Forum is the largest and oldest melanoma community online. It began as the Melanoma Patients Information Page (MPIP) in 1994 when a community member named Jeff Patterson was searching for information that could help a family member facing melanoma. He soon realized that, at the time, there was no central location to find information about melanoma and connect with others in the community. Reflecting the technology of the internet’s early days, the MPIP began as an online bulletin board where community members could post questions or comments and create discussion threads with other users. Over a quarter of a century later, the MRF Patient Forum has helped thousands of melanoma patients and caregivers find peer support to ask questions, give advice and connect with others who understand what it’s like to navigate a melanoma diagnosis.

In that same time, online technology has increased exponentially, social media has evolved to connect us in new and innovative ways and melanoma community members are able to connect with others anywhere in the world. In recent years, many of our community members have suggested updates and made helpful recommendations on how this online patient resource can grow, improve and better serve our community. The MRF listened and this week, we are proud to unveil an updated and improved MRF Patient Forum!

In many ways the updated site will look and act very familiar and you will still have the same ability to connect with others to seek and offer support. New updates will improve this experience, offer more posting options, additional communities, more robust profiles and more. The forum will launch on Wednesday, December 16 but we invite you to take a sneak peek at some of the new features and functions today! Check out this new blog post to see what you can expect, and we look forward to continuing the conversation on the new and improved site this week.

Thank you to everyone who has made this community such an incredible source of patient and caregiver support over the years, and we hope you will look forward to continuing to grow this community for many years to come.
