My husband was told that he has a secondary melanoma in his pancreas (uncinate process) that is not respectable due to its close proximity to the main vein in that area. His doctor wants him to start on Yervoy and if that doesn't work then he will place him on Keytruda (pd1).  My questions are:

how effective is Yervoy for cancer on the pancreas?

because my husband's cancer is aggressive – can we insist on him being placed on Keytruda right away instead of waiting to see if Yervoy works first?

any other suggestions would be very much welcomed.

      Thank you

      wife (caregiver)

Some docs have been doing keytruda first. But I think technically the fda still has yervoy first. Although that will probably change in a couple months but that does you no good now. Can he get in the yervoy opdivo extended access trial? Opdivo is the other pd1. Granted you would probably have to travel and I'm not sure who has started it yet. My doc in saint Louis yesterday said he's going to get it but not sure when and since I had yervoy by itself I couldn't get it.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I will ask our oncologist about the combo.  I would prefer my husband go on Keytruda first since he has so many other co-morbities as well as melanoma.
