Hi, if a mole shave biopsy pathology results are mildly atypical with involved margins and residual pigment is left should the mole be re-excised for clean margins or can a wait and watch approach be used? Thanks for any insight.

I’ve had several atypical shave biopsies. The one that didn’t have clear margins my derm excised with a 1 cm margin. If you have a history of melanoma I’d definitely get it removed to the point of clear margins.

I am new here- but my derm biopsied another mole that was unusual-not melanoma but he is still going back in to get a 1cm margin— Make me feel better now that I have had a melanoma
