Could anyone help interpret?Lungs: Multiple lesions are identified, mostly within the right upper lobe, new since 3/1/2024. The majority of the lesions consist of groundglass opacity. Several of the lesions contain more dense / solid internal sub-regions. At least one lesion is also present within the right middle lobe, and at least one lesion is present within the right lower lobe. No similar left-sided lesions are identified.
Pleural Spaces: No significant pleural

I should add that the findings are indeterminate. I’ve also been coughing up small amounts of mucus for a couple months?-

Ground glass opacity is classic after bad colds, covid-19 infection or pneumonia etc. When there is something new and not proven to be melanoma via a biopsy, then it is just something new and more than one explanation could explain the findings. Follow up with scans more frequently would be a good idea, if changing getting larger then a biopsy would make sense. How big are these ground glass opacity on ct scan?

Thank you Ed for the response. There were no measurements taken of any of the nodules. The impression was that “the findings are indeterminate, scan again in 3 months w/o contrast.”
I understand it could be a number of things, but am going to live with extra anxiety for the next few months.-

If talking with your oncologist before to long, I would ask to get measurement now so if down the road there is growth you will have comparison numbers ready to go. I would also ask for shorter follow up period than 3 months, if you are stressed about this report.

When I was initially stage IV and I had a small area of lung met/biopsy for confirmed melanoma. Immunotherapy made the area inactive. I later had a terrible cough I got from my kid at the end of immunotherapy. I seemed to get much sicker then and I had three kids. It was awful. They finally did X-rays to check for pneumonia and my lungs were so bad, as you describe, I had to get early CT scan, same readings. Come back in three months. All gone. A bad cough really can mess with your lungs in a very visible way. -

Thank you both for responding. I am very prone to infections after years of every kind of immunotherapy treatment. I developed type 1 diabetes and adrenal insufficiency. It definitely feels more viral or infectious due to the mucus and what feels like chest congestion. However I’m not obviously sick? Every met I’ve ever had started with a measurement on Ct report, so this seems different? I’m more confident than not about it disappearing down the road. Thanks again to all who still visit the forum! -

I had a similar report after two years of immunotherapy. A scary time for me! Was told lung progression until 3rd scan (1 CT and 2 pet scans). The radiologist who read the third scan read the findings as infection or inflammation, likely pneumonitis – a reaction from immunotherapy. My oncologist wasn’t convinced I had progression because each scan result was different. Hang in there. -

Just wanted to follow up and report that this area has cleared up after a steroid taper. It was likely bronchitis or pneumonia. These things are never easy and gave me extreme anxiety for a month with at least one panic attack! Thank you to all who responded.
