So I had blood work dond before my first yervoy infusion about 3 weeks ago (and a week after starting radiation) and the results show my testosterone levels were down a little. I just had another panel done before my sexing yervoy round and it showed it had dropped slightly more. Enough to the point we cocidered a cream to bring it up.

Anyone have issues with testosterone levels dropping during radiation/yervoy/melanoma in general?

      hi

My oncologist told me that all of the hormones are subject to being lowered during Yervoy treatment.

He did mention also that testosterone was the most common one affected that he has seen.

I start next week with Yervoy

That's pretty interesting. My T levels had seen a pretty big drop which I attributed to early 50's slippage and and the stress of getting cut up with number of Mel surgeries. I had done the Yervoy 4 infusion treatment twice. When I asked my family Dr about addressing he said T supplements feed cancer and worried it might jump start it after having kept the tumor load to very low or zero over the past few years. I would like to hear more on this topic as if it's ok to take the supplements I'd prefer to get back to normal T range.

I will ask my onc about the supliments affecting tumors. One of the odd things is it was slightly low before I even started yervoy and dropped a bit more after starting it. I am only 30 so age shouldn't be a factor.

My husbands testosterone, cortisol, and all other hormones dropped.  They thought he was going into adrenal failure.  We are now seeing a endocronologist to find out if in fact adrenals or pituitary.  We asked about testosterone cream/supplement and she said that because testosterone is a growth hormone she wouldn't advise it.  Don't need anytthing to help melanoma grow anymore… ๐Ÿ™
