      Hi,

i wonder if you can advise whether loosing weight, ca. 13 pounds a month is something what can be explained by nerves or is this something what should be looked at due to the cancer issue?

Cancer can certainly cause weight loss. But so can many other things such as nerves/stress, high glucose, thyroid issues, recent surgery, gi issues, just to name a few.  Losing 13 pounds in a month without trying is definitely something to discuss with your Dr. Something is going on. But it's not necessarily cancer. And it's not necessarily life threatening. I lost 32 pounds in 6 weeks this past summer. My glucose was high, I just had surgery, and my thryoid that is normally underactive was way overactive due to too much meds. All of those cause weight loss. And I'm sure there are many many other things it could be. Again, not necessarily life threatening issues, but things that need corrected nonetheless.

          Best wishes to you.

A few things to watch out about is, diarrhea, status of appetite, is she depressed, throat, mouth or teeth problems.

Last year I lost 50 pounds in a little over two months due to throat and taste bud problems (not related to my melanoma).

Do need to get some glands hecked for problems.  My GP isn't really interested nor attentive.

Your friend should get it checked out.

As far as I am ware she doesn’t have a problem with her appetite. Obviously she has her bad day in terms of being depressed but I wouldn’t say that she has a depression. I will try and make her consult with her GP or her cancer consultant.

                  Thank you for your help
