Just to keep you updated, I got the original first biopsy report today.

Thier words: Maligant melanoma, nodular type, invasive to Breslow depth of at least 4.Omm.

I guess thats what qualified me for this special club. I had that thing for 5 weeks. Thought it was a boil. Yes, I did a little reading on the net and you were right. I should not have done that. At least until I've got more information. Seems nodular is not the best. Well, the test and the excision are scheduled for Monday.

      I will let you know

      Mike

          Hi Mike,

          Welcome to the club.

Oh, Internet…I did that, too. Scared myself silly. It is very easy to panic. I was dx in September. There are lots of people going through this too, at all stages, and good treatments that help many people's tumors shrink or disappear. It is normal to feel stressed by this news. Good luck on the WLE on Monday. You will beat this!

(Sorry, posted too soon before I finished) There are lots of great immunological treatments that can be selected to target your particular tumors's genetic markers.

Please make sure they test for BRAF and NRAS mutations. Maybe someone will chime in if there are other tests for the tumor which will help with treatments down the road. Good luck!!

Well, carp!  (Not a typo.  A good friend came up with that, and it makes me smile every time I type it.  Gotta get our laughs where we can!)   The good news is that you recognized a problem and are on the road to getting it taken care of.  I'm assuming that you are also getting a SNLB on Monday as well — that's the test you are referring to?  Hopefully you will get the news that no melanoma is found in the lymph node, you'll get that nasty little sucker out, and go on with the rest of your life!!  If not, you'll get tons of support and information from the people here.  They have much better and more up to date stuff than anyplace out there on the internet.  You've got this!

Mike, welcome to the fight. This is the best forum you never want to find yourself on. As others mentioned in your original post, first things first. You'll know a lot more after your WLE and even if you disregard everything else on this forum…PLEASE make sure you get connected with a melanoma specialist (if you aren't already)  it can literally make all the difference in your life and battle. If the stars align you will have clear margins and no lymph node involvement but even if the margins arent clear and you have multiple lymph nodes involved there are many treatment options! But as I said, first things first…

Please keep us updated as there is a wealth of information located here and tons of experience among the members. Between now and Monday…and yes I know I am asking the near impossible….try to relax a little, enjoy some things you like, and rest. Everyone says it, and it is absolutely true but not so simple to accept, worrying about what the results "could be" changes nothing and only serves to make us anxious. Save your mental energy for living life and enjoying now. If the results say you have to step onto the battlefield, then you will and I know this enemy can be defeated.

                            Your brother in battle,

                            Tex
