    Hello,

How do you know if your melanoma is BRAF postive or not?  Should it be on the pathology report when they removed the sental lymph nodes and wide area excision?

    Thanks!

Not typically.  It is more likely done at stage IV when a tumor is biopsied or removed.  If the sentinel node is positive, it is possible you could ask for it to be done I suppose.  It is a separate genetic test totally separate from anything normally done for biopsies and removal and testing of lymph nodes.

The BRAF test can be made afterwards if you have a piece of tissue stored from your  initial biopsy. Ask your physician.
With my wife it was tested like that.

As per my pathologic report, They used my biopsy material ,
Against material s100 in a immunochemical reaction shows a colour change…biopsy msterial against material p53 also shows nucleas of tumour materials could be seen…biopsy material against map2, they could see the structure… against material melanA they were able to see a reaction.

        Implies brafv600e mutation…(c1799t>a)
