Well, it’s done. Eleven mets instead of seven. Doc believes it’s because the MRI they use for the Gamma Knife is many times stronger than than the standard MRI–it picks up much smaller mets.
I enjoyed lots of sedation–the metal headpiece wasn’t fun but livable on drugs.
He’s optimistic that in 28 days new MRI will show stable mets & no new growth, then on to PD1.
The case was long–arrived @ 7:30 am and left @ 3:pm. Tired & resting now.
Thanks,

Hi Karen,
That's exactly what happened to me. I went in for 1 and when the stronger MRI came back I had 7. I was thinking that we need to use the weaker MRI's when we check for stability! 🙂
We're basically going through the same stuff right now. I want to get on Anti PD 1 trial too. I had SRS on 2 of the larger mets. Finished that up on June 18th. Going in to get zapped on the other 5 hopefully soon. I meet with Specialist this Friday.
I was also supposed to get infusion of Ipi this week but the infusion center had to wait for approval then order it so it won't be in until next week. These time delays and waiting for results can make a person crazy.
I'm so glad they got you in quickly. You WILL be stable in 4 weeks and on to ANTI PD 1.
All my best to you Karen, you will be in my thoughts.

Karen, Good to hear this phase is over. Having a stronger MRI is probably a good thing, having found some that otherwise would have been missed. I’m in the city for a derm evaluation and to meet with Dr. Pavlick. If she’s in the office, I’ll say hello for you. Now, get that well deserved rest. -

Karen, I'm so glad that your doctors were able to find and TREAT the extra 4 mets. Imagine what would happen if they had not been found! It is at times like this that I appreciate the medical miracles our doctors can do these days.
As others have said, get plenty of rest. Pamper yourself for a while. And look forward to starting the anti-PD1 in 28 days.

What a LONG day! Well, I am glad it is done and behind you… and yes, isn't sedation such a blessing when you need it?!? So, for the next 28 days, you need to take great care of yourself. Get extra rest and allow yourself healing time. Do you have appts between now and then?

Karen,
I am so sorry that they found more mets…11 must have shocked you. The good news is that the Doctor zapped them and did not makeyou get a WBR. How big were the new 4 mets they found???
What was the name of the sedation the doctor gaveyou. Were you still awake or did the sedation put you out completely?
Rest up and 28 days will fly bye
